November Newsletter 2008
From my music room window I watch as leaves fall gently from the majestic oak tree blanketing the lawn with the amazing colors of autumn. The air outside is brisk, a gentle reminder that winter is around the corner, and I find myself wondering what this next season holds.
I don’t have a clue but I am so convinced that God is in control that I have a special sense of Peace about what is next. I have an assurance in my heart that says He up to something. Something Good!
God is working even when we do not know what HE is doing. He’s working on our behalf and showing his mercies to us even when we can’t imagine what the next hour might hold.
I have just released a new CD called “THROUGH IT ALL”
I have always loved the title song but somehow in the last few years it has taken on new meaning to me. One of my favorite lines in the song declares, "If I’d never had a problem, I would never know that God could solve them, I would never know what faith in His word could do.”
In the midst of trials I have faced I have learned so much about faith in God and found a peace like I have never had in my life. It is a place that I have never been before and I love it.
You see I am a natural worry wart! I find things to worry about. But I am learning a whole new way of life. It has brought me to a place of Peace. A place that says to me, when problems come I need not take the worry on but I can totally trust God and he will give me “peace that passes understanding.”
I learned it is easy to trust and have peace when all is well and there are no challenges, But, that is not real peace. That is only surface peace, that totally depends on circumstances. God has promised us a much better peace. It is an inner rest that is unshakeable regardless of our circumstances. Completely opposite of the peace the world offers.
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: Not as the world giveth, I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.
Not the peace that the world gives but the kind of peace that keeps us from being so troubled and afraid. Oh, we will have problems, you can count on that! But when we learn to trust God, He has the ability to bring us through and we can have peace in the midst of those times.
It is not about closing our eyes, gritting our teeth and pretending that it will go away. Peace is knowing that regardless of how bad it is God will never fail us .He will come through. He will carry the load.
Sometimes we must be brought to a place where all we have is Christ, and there we discover HE is all we need. That’s what I found when I was in an impossible place with no hope... I found Peace, a peace that declares “Through It All” I can trust Him!
Hallelujah!
I hope you take that thought with you into Thanksgiving and Christmas and as you do, your lips will give thanks and your heart will be filled with His peace!
With Love,
SUE DODGE
